Martyn raises over £1300, that’s nearly 4 Visiting Wag Teams!
Many congratulations to Martyn Vaughan from East Boldon who decided to do a Marathon ‘somewhere nice’ for his 40th birthday for a local charity. Martyn selected the Paris Marathon – which he completed successfully on the 2nd of April this year – and then he had to choose which local charity to support. Martyn told us: I really enjoyed the training and then Paris 2022 was great, I’ve loved the whole experience and I’m so glad I did it. I chose Wag because my wife worked for Arco and follows you on social media and she told me what a great job you do. Then when I read about you I was certain Wag was a charity I wanted to support. I live in a lovely village and there are a lot of elderly people and I can see what it means to them when I just have a 5 minute chat with them in the park etc. So those who can’t get out or don’t have a community must be so lonely and that’s why I think the work you do is fabulous. We’re absolutely honoured he did choose us and to date he’s raised a spectacular £821 – Wow Martyn! – and, in addition, Martyn’s employers, Nestle, Fawdon in Newcastle, have also donated a further £500. Between them that’s almost 4 Visiting Wag Teams regularly visiting older people for a whole year! Absolutely amazing, thank you so much everyone!
Not content with all that, Martyn’s also running in Gateshead, Sunderland and the Great North Run this year for us and his wife and daughter, little 4 year old Charlotte, will also be wearing Wag shirts for the mini Great North Run! A real family effort! Really appreciated, go #TeamVaughan.
