Visiting Wag Team Helen and Toby visit Mrs Joan G in North Tyneside
Toby has a new, special friend in Mrs Joan G, who lives in her own home in North Tyneside.
Joan always had black Labradors, but she sadly can’t have one of her own anymore, and she misses them dreadfully. She currently sponsors a guide dog to enable her to still feel close to them.
Joan lives alone after losing her husband, and she has a very supportive family, but with her current mobility problems, she spends more time alone than she’d like.
We were delighted to match Toby the black Labrador with his ‘mum’ Helen, and Joan was absolutely thrilled!
Her son told us: “Mum really loves Toby and Helen. It’s so wonderful seeing her so happy. She had always had black labs, so it’s brilliant you were able to match him. He’s a real gentleman, so good and well-behaved; she really loves him and thoroughly enjoys spending time with Helen, too.”
The referrer from Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW) told us: “It’s perfect. You couldn’t have matched better if you’d tried. Toby has beautiful manners, and it’s wonderful to see the perfect match for Joan! I’m just sad I can’t be there every week. The only concerns I have are for Toby’s figure; Joan has a lot of treats for him!”
The start of another wonderful Wag friendship!
