Wedding bells and waggy tails: the Andrews family’s gift to Wag
Wag volunteer Paul Andrews has been visiting with his lovely Belle for over six months now. Initially at a care home, and more recently, they’ve started visiting an elderly gentleman who lives alone. We were absolutely honoured when Paul told us that he and his fiancée Chris had decided to ask for donations to Wag instead of wedding presents! They raised an amazing £400, which is funding a visiting Wag team for a whole year!
It’s so special to think about Wag at such an important time, too; thank you so much, Paul, Chris & Belle!
Meet the Andrews family:
“Belle and I have been volunteering with Wag & Company for about six months, initially at a care home locally and more recently with a lovely elderly gentleman who sadly lives alone. Belle loves her days out visiting and being spoiled, and I really enjoy being able to share the joy of having a dog with those who no longer can look after one.
Last year I proposed to my girlfriend of nine years, and luckily she said yes! As we were planning our wedding in April, friends and family asked us what we would like as a gift. Both being very young 60 plus-year-olds, there wasn’t anything we needed, so we decided to ask people to donate to a charity on our behalf. It didn’t take long for us to decide that Wag & Company would be our chosen charity, and we set up a Just Giving page and were pleased and amazed to receive nearly £400, which we know will be well spent helping more older people to have a bit of extra fun and pleasure in their lives. Not only that, but it raised the profile of Wag & Company, too.
Unfortunately, Belle was unable to attend the ceremony, but she helped us get ready in the morning and came to our evening get-together and, most importantly, our honeymoon in Scotland. As you can see in the photos, she loves a puppuchino from the coffee shop.”
