Older people in need across our region! Can you help?

County Durham

Billingham

Mrs P is 92, and she lives alone, having lost her husband and her last dog only a few years ago. For health reasons, she’s unable to get out and about independently or at all anymore, so she can’t have another dog for company, either. Her daughter is nearby and very supportive, but she still spends more time alone than she’d like and feels really isolated. She would absolutely love to have regular visits for a chat with a fellow dog lover and a cuddle with their beautiful dog!

Miss F is 69 and now lives on her own in sheltered accommodation since leaving the family farm where she had lived all her life. Her family always had dogs, and she now misses them terribly and is unable to have one of her own. She is feeling really lonely and isolated, and having a two-legged Wag friend and a lovely four-legged pooch to cuddle would make a huge difference in her life.

Newcastle

Mrs C is 90 and has lived on her own for many years, but now, due to her sight having degenerated, she is rarely able to go out and is feeling really low and isolated in her own home. She had Yorkshire Terriers all her life, her last one living to 21, but now, being unable to look after one, she misses the company of a dog enormously. She loves to chat over a cuppa, so having new Wag friends in her life would make such a difference.

Near Gateshead

Miss J lives on her own just outside of Gateshead but, due to mobility issues, is now unable to leave the house most of the time. She is feeling really isolated and misses the company of the dogs she has owned or the ones she looked after for friends after losing her last one recently. She had a lovely Wag volunteer visit her until recently due to her dog’s health deteriorating, and she would love to have that friendship and dog to cuddle again.

South Shields

Mrs W is in her 80s and now lives on her own following the death of her husband. She recently lost her miniature English Terrier, but due to her health issues, she doesn’t feel she can look after another dog anymore, and she misses the company so much. Can you bring joy back into her life and share your lovely little pooch for cuddles while you have a cuppa and a chat with her?

Stockton on Tees

Mr T is in his 90s; he lives on his own in his own home, having recently lost his wife.  He has been diagnosed with a health condition which really affects his mobility and his ability to go out and be part of the local community. He has had dogs all his life but would not be able to look after one of his own anymore and is really feeling lonely and isolated. Regular visits from Wag friends with two and four legs will give him some company, a lovely cuddle with a special pooch, something to look forward to and be part of the community again.

Hartlepool

Mrs T is recently widowed, and she also lost her much-loved dog only a year ago, so she’s really sad and missing her loved ones.  Her children visit as often as they can, but she’s still on her own more than she would like, and she’s started feeling quite lonely. It would really benefit her to have a lovely little dog to hug again and a Wag friend for some company and a regular chat.
