Older people in need across our region! Can you help?

Tyne & Wear

 Whitley Bay

Mr D is 77 and although he lives with his wife, she works during the week and he feels really isolated during the day.  He had dogs all his life but due to his health deteriorating he is no longer able to look after one and he misses having a dog around enormously.  He is an enormous music fan and it would really make a difference to him to have an ideally male music lover volunteer with a gorgeous dog to be his new friends.

Newcastle upon Tyne

Mrs D is in her 90’s, she’s lost her husband and lives alone now and having always had Corgis she finds life without a four legged friend very difficult. She spends a lot of time by herself and is feeling increasingly lonely so regular visits for an hour or two most weeks with your special dog will really make the world of difference.

Mr L lives in sheltered accommodation following a difficult time with his health which left him with mobility problems and meant he had to rehome his beloved Staffie! Heartbreaking! Mr L really misses his own dog and having a dog in his life generally and he would absolutely love to have new Wag friends to regularly visit!

Near Houghton le Spring

Mrs M is in her 90’s, she’s lost her husband and lives alone. Mrs M had King Charles Cavalier Spaniels all her life but for health reasons including very poor eye sight she can’t have one of her own now and she misses them terribly. She does have a ‘robot’ therapy dog but it hasn’t really made the difference and she feels very lonely and isolated; special Wag friends with two legs and four little legs are definitely the answer! Could it be you?

Sunderland

Mr C lost his wife last year and he now lives in sheltered accommodation in Sunderland. Having always had collies, he would love to be able to have a dog again, but his health and vision problems mean it’s not possible now. Is your collie sized dog Mr C’s new friend?

 Redcar

Mr & Mrs G are in their 80’s, they live on their own in Redcar and have different health issues which mean they spend a great deal of time inside on their own except for the carers who visit. They love dogs and have always had them but it’s sadly no longer possible. So regular visits from Wag friends (a couple with their beautiful would be ideal) will give them some company, a lovely cuddle with a special pooch and something to look forward to.

Mr S is 94 and lives in his own home on his own now having lost his wife.  His son is nearby and very supportive, but he still spends more time alone than he’d like and is feeling really isolated.   He has always had little dogs but due to his health deteriorating he is unable to care for one of his own now, and instead he has two toy dogs in his living room.  His referrer believes having regular visits and contact with a dog again would be a huge benefit.

Hartlepool

Mrs M is 93 and lives on her own having lost her husband. She has a daughter who she is really close to, but unfortunately, she doesn’t live locally and so she finds herself housebound and mostly alone. She has always had dogs but due to her health and mobility deteriorating she is unable to care for one of her own any more. She would absolutely love to have regular visits for a chat with a fellow dog lover and a cuddle with their beautiful dog!

 Near Guisborough

Ms J lives on her own near Guisborough and due to her mobility issues, she’s not able to go out very often if at all and this has left her feeling really socially isolated and lonely. She has no family members to visit but she previously had her own dog who she sadly lost recently, she also used to look after a friend’s pets but unfortunately it’s no longer possible. It’s a difficult time and visits from a lovely Wag volunteer and their lovely cuddly dog would really make a huge difference to her life.

Northallerton

Mrs T is nearly 80 and she lives with her husband near Northallerton. For health reasons, she can no longer leaves the house other than for medical appointments and they aren’t able to manage a dog of their own anymore. After recently losing their beloved Jack Russell, they are really struggling without their four legged friend and having a dog in their lives again will make the world of difference.
