Fizzy Friday, 31st Jan: an afternoon of fun, fundraising and inspiring Wag stories!

Such a wonderful day!

31st January, was our second Fizzy Friday Fundraising Afternoon Tea at As You Like It in Jesmond!  Another fantastic day, hosted this time by the wonderful Anna Foster from BBC Radio Newcastle who incredibly also donated her time. We sold all 120 tickets and raised almost exactly £6,000 – absolutely amazing! £6,000 funds 13 vulnerable people alone in their own homes to have Wag friends visiting most weeks for a whole year, friends for life, changing the way they feel about the world! Wonderful, here’s to next time!  Friday 14 November. Save the date ✨

So many people to thank!

Thank you so much to everyone who made this possible, particularly our event sponsor and donor of every one of the 120 Afternoon teas and glasses of fizz, the amazing Apartment Group!!  Founder Duncan Fisher is a huge dog lover and great supporter of our work; he’s even a qualified Wag volunteer, visiting with his Hungarian Vizsla Rudy when he can.

Thanks so much to the volunteers who spoke so movingly on the day about their own visiting experiences, Elle, Chris and Sharon! They perfectly brought the essence of Wag into the room, perfectly describing, first hand, why they and the other 396 Wag visitors and many more are so needed.

Thank to those who donated a raffle prize and bought a ticket and made the day so special.  To our fantastic team: – Emma Griffiths, Charlotte Pearson, Community Ambassadors, Jan Rayner, Mandy and the whole Jobling family and Pam (Wag Dog) Lamming – we simply could not do this without you all!

To the army of Wag volunteers and Trustees buying and selling 120 tickets, to Corporate volunteer from Muckle Solicitors, Steve Cunningham giving his time again for Wag, taking photos and video!  To Foxhunter who donated the Name That Dog champagne prize organised by Jan and Teddy Rayner.  Special thanks also to Adam Goodwin of Whittle Print who saved our bacon last minute by producing, donating and even delivering the beautiful A1 table plan with almost no notice!!

One again, to Duncan Fisher, Donna Cope, Rachelle Jacques and everyone at the Apartment Group – thank you for your incredible generosity and your support for Wag and elderly people in our region!

Here’s to next time!  Friday 14 November. Save the date ✨
