Mr S is 83, he has always been a huge dog lover and he has had Labradors throughout his life. After losing his last dog two years ago, Mr S really misses having a dog in his life but for health reasons, he can’t have another one of his own now. He always makes sure he’s stocked up on dog treats, though, for when the local dog walker passes, so that he can go out and say hello to all the dogs. Mr S has some memory issues which he finds quite frustrating and quite isolating. He would love to have Wag friends, a fellow dog lover and their lovely dog, to regularly visit. Can you help?
Ms R is 78 and lives alone in Newcastle. She has always been a dog lover, she’s had lots and loved them all, Lakeland Terriers, Jack Russells and a Corgi, but she’s not able to have one in her life now and it’s a big gap. She has rescued a cat for companionship which is lovely particularly as her health conditions prevent her from getting out and about and she has very few visitors now and spends a lot of time at home. Understandably she’s been feeling quite lonely. Regular visits from a Visiting Wag Team for a chat and a cuddle with a beautiful dog will make the world of difference to Ms R. Could you and your lovely dog help?
Mr N lives with a debilitating health condition which impacts his ability to go out, he absolutely loves dogs, always having had German Shepherds, but it’s not possible for him to have one now. He would love a friend with a lovely dog to visit – a big dog if possible, but he loves all dogs – it’s possible that stroking a dog again will be therapeutic for him. Could you help?
Mr J is 87 and lives alone in Newcastle after losing his wife last year. He also lost his spaniel around the same time, who had been a huge comfort for him and he really misses them both. He can’t get out and about much now, and since losing his wife Mr J doesn’t get the same pleasure from the activities he once loved. Although Mr J has regular calls with his daughter, she doesn’t live close by, so visits from a friend and their cuddly dog will make a huge difference to Mr J’s life.
Mrs W is 84 and lives in assisted living in Newcastle after losing her husband many years ago. She has always had dogs in her life, and more recently adopted street dogs whilst she was living in Turkey after she retired, but sadly had to leave them with a friend when she moved back home due to her health difficulties. Although she still has contact with them via her friend, she really misses them but she can no longer have a dog of her own. Regular visits from a lovely volunteer and their dog will help to fill the doggy shaped hole in her life.

Mrs D is 81 and lives alone at home. She has started to feel quite isolated lately, and although she can get out and about, for health reasons now, she prefers to be in her own home. She is very fond of dogs, and has had different breeds throughout her life. She would really love one of her own but feels it wouldn’t be fair as she wouldn’t be able to walk them. This is where you and your wonderful dog could help! Regular visits, chats and dog cuddles would help to make Mrs D’s world feel a little bigger.

Mrs W is 88 and lives alone after losing her husband 7 years ago. With limited mobility and deteriorating sight, she can no longer enjoy the hobbies she once loved and, like any of us would, she often feels isolated and bored. Her family lives far away, so visits are occasional, making the days feel even longer. Mrs W used to have Poodles, but she adores all dogs; however, her health prevents her from having one of her own. She is very sociable and would love nothing more than regular visits from a lovely dog and a friendly face to have a good chat over a cuppa. Could you and your dog help to make Mrs’s W’s world feel a little bigger?
