Registration for Walk for Wag… at Derwent is open!
Early June always sees us open registration for Walk for Wag, taking place this year on the 13th of September! Last year was such a fantastic day – our first at Derwent Waterside (near Consett, DH8 9TT). It worked so well, with beautiful walks, but most of all, it was brilliant to meet up with everyone – some people for the first time, and as one of our volunteers put it:
“You do Wag on your own, but when you go to the Wag walk, suddenly you realise just how many other people volunteer for Wag, and it’s great to meet up and share stories!”
Last year, our amazing 130 walkers and 98 dogs raised over £13,378! Isn’t that amazing? For us, that’s 28 people alone in their own homes who can now have Wag friends visiting for typically 30 weeks of the year!
Ever hopeful, we’re aiming for 200 walkers this year, everyone either sponsored or donating or fundraising to help.
We’d really love for you to come. Bring your family, friends, and work colleagues, and enter your dogs into the Waggy Tails Fun Dog Show – a new Golden Oldies class this year after the Puppy class! Meet some of our older friends, tap your foot to the Hexham Uketeers, walk either the 8km or the 3km, stroke a beautiful Police Dog, have your face painted, enter the raffle, have coffee, cake, lunch – a perfect day out with pretty perfect people and gorgeous dogs!
There’s also free parking, t-shirts, bandanas, water bottles, dog and human treats! All we ask is that every adult walker raises at least £50 in any way they can through sponsorship, bake sales, quiz nights, and however else you can!
Don’t miss it! Register to walk here.
