Carol, Dave and Friendship Dog Basil visit Mr and Mrs C in Redcar

Beautiful Basil the Basset Hound has recently started visiting new friends Mr and Mrs C in their home in Redcar, as part of ‘Team Twiby’ with his ‘mum’ Carol and ‘dad’ Dave.

The couple have always been dog lovers, most recently sharing their lives with Jack Russells, but a change in their health and ability to get out and about meant it was no longer possible for them to have a dog of their own. So, when they heard they could regularly welcome a Friendship Dog into their home, they were absolutely delighted.

From the very first visit, Basil made himself right at home. There were smiles all round and even a sneaky bit of sandwich for Basil before he settled in for cuddles and a snooze at Mr C’s feet.

But it was Mrs C who truly lit up during the visit — she simply adores Basil and always wants him up on the sofa beside her for a proper cuddle.

The referral told us: “It was wonderful to see the smile on her face. Basil loved her, and she hadn’t smiled that much in a long time.”

Now, everyone is looking forward to their regular weekly visits. Great job, Team Twiby (and especially lovely Basil!)
