Mandy and Friendship Dog Lemmy visit Mrs M in Hartlepool
Mrs M is 94 and lives alone in her home in Hartlepool. She’s mostly housebound these days and treasures the times her daughter makes the long trip up from Oxford to visit. But thanks to her new four-legged friend, she now has even more to look forward to.
For the past six months, Mrs M has been enjoying regular visits from Lemmy the Friendship Dog and also of course his ‘mum’, Mandy. Since losing her husband, Mrs M has missed having a dog in her life. Her home is filled with photos and ornaments of the many special and much loved dogs she’s had over the years.
While it’s no longer possible for Mrs M to have a dog of her own, she absolutely loves spoiling Lemmy, who has quickly become a very welcome friend. Her daughter told us: “The visits are just wonderful. Mandy sends me lovely photos so I can see how happy Mum is when Lemmy visits. Mum is quite a shy, reserved person, so Lemmy is the perfect ice breaker, and she’s always thrilled to see Mandy too.”
She added: “These visits give her something to look forward to and talk about! Having Lemmy to cuddle and someone to have a cuppa with and a chat has made such a difference.”
Wonderful to hear! That’s what Wag is all about. Great job, lovely Lemmy!
