Steve and Friendship Dog Bella visit Mr C in Washington
Mr C is nearly 90 and lives alone in his home in Washington. After losing his beloved wife two years ago, life has felt much quieter and more difficult and of course he misses her terribly. The couple shared a lifelong love of dogs, especially Border Collies, but caring for his wife and his own health challenges have meant that having a dog of his own was no longer possible.
After a recent hospital stay, Mr C was referred to Wag for visits, and the referrer told us that when he heard about Wag, his face lit up. Enter Bella the Border Collie and her ‘dad’ Steve, who have been visiting ever since.
It was the perfect match. Mr C’s daughter, who was there for the first visit, was thrilled that her dad was paired with a Border Collie. On that first visit, they made a trip to the park, with Mr C proudly leading the way in his electric wheelchair.
The visits have brought genuine joy and a sense of connection. His daughter told us the visits are “absolutely amazing — Steve is brilliant, and Bella is wonderful too.”
A heartwarming friendship and a perfect Wag match. Well done, Steve and Bella!
