Mrs W, 92, has lived alone in her own home in Newcastle since losing her husband a few years ago. She is struggling with her mobility now, which means that not only can she not have a dog of her own anymore, but she is also unable to get out and about, and she’s feeling really isolated. She did have a lovely befriending Wag Team visiting regularly, but life has changed, and they’re no longer able to visit. She misses them already, so new Wag friends and ideally (but not essential), a Labrador-sized dog will be really important to how she feels about the world.
Mrs B is 80 and has lived on her own at home since losing her husband. In the past, they always had Chihuahua and Corgis, and she only lost her last beloved 17-year-old Corgi a couple of years ago. Although she is very close to her daughter, who visits after work most days, she is increasingly finding herself feeling lonely during the day. A furry pal for a cuddle and a lovely two-legged friend for a chat most weeks would really help to brighten up her days.

Mr H is 92 and lives with his wife, who cares for him. They have always had dogs, but unfortunately, they lost their last at the end of last year, and due to his health deteriorating, they are unable to care for one again. Mrs H says that mostly it is really difficult to engage her husband, but when he sees a dog, he lights up and starts chatting to it. Wonderful for them all. Could your lovely dog be the one that helps Mr H “light up”?

Mrs H, 88, has lived on her own since losing her husband 10 years ago. She feels devastated after losing her beloved dog 6 weeks ago, and due to her mobility declining, she is also unable to have another one. This, of course, has come as a terribly sad loss and left her feeling really lonely alone at home. Mrs H’s referrer thinks having regular visits from a female friend and cuddles with a furry friend will make a huge difference to the way she feels about the world.

Mrs S, 87, lives on her own in sheltered accommodation. She is now registered blind in one eye, which means she’s struggling to get out and about much or at all. She also lost her Chihuahua, and she misses the company terribly, and she’s feeling very isolated. She is close to her children but still spends more time alone than she’d like. Regular visits from a great two-legged friend and cuddles with a little pooch would mean the world to her. Can you help?

Mr D is a lovely gentleman who has lived on his own since his wife moved into care a couple of years ago. He is 82, but struggles now with his mobility, which meant he very sadly had to rehome his beloved terrier as he was unable to care for him. We would love to get him a new friend, ideally a terrier-type dog too, to brighten up his days.
Middlesbrough
Mr Y, 82, lives on his own in a sheltered accommodation flat in Middlesbrough and has no family close by. He has had dogs all his life, but for health reasons, he’s now unable to care for one of his own. Mr Y is really struggling being on his own so much, and having new Wag friends in life to visit regularly and have a chat and a lovely cuddle with a dog in his life again will make all the difference. Can you help?
