Dog lover David from Cumbria supports friendship dogs after life saving treatment at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital!

David from Cumbria decided to become a Friend of Wag this week donating every month to provide Wag friends for other dog lovers in our region.

Originally from Brecon in Wales – David’s attached his unique Friends of Wag pin badge to his Welsh Rugby bucket hat hoping it’ll bring them luck against Argentina in November! Pob lwc Cymru!

Here’s why David chose to support us.-

From childhood, my life has always been enhanced by dogs.
I lost both my dogs a little over a year ago just before I went into hospital for a cancer treatment called Car-T.  I’m now in remission. I’m working daily on my fitness so that I can share my life with a dog once again.
The staff on Ward 33 at the Freeman are an incredible team – i’ve total respect for them and what they do – they have certainly changed my outlook on life.
I thought training a therapy dog would be a good way of repaying the care I’ve received, while researching what would be involved in the training,  I accidentally came across Wag.
I thought that’s a perfect fit.
I like to challenge myself so I signed up for the sponsored walk for Wag at Derwent in September.
I knew I would meet like-minded people and I was not disappointed. I had such a warm welcome, the day will live long in my memory.
The joy dogs can bring to peoples lives is quite incredible.  Wag brings joy to people at difficult times in their lives, and I am very happy to be able to support them.
