Sue and Friendship Dog Hector visit Mrs D in North Tyneside

Mrs D is 95, she lost her beloved husband 10 years ago, and she’s lived alone ever since. With no family close by and some difficult health problems to manage, she had become quite isolated and low.

Mrs D and her husband always had dogs, always Corgis, and they were all girls and all called Victoria!

She can’t have a dog of her own now, and of course, she really misses them. When she heard about Wag, she was really excited about the prospect of having a dog in her life again, and when Hector walked into her home in January this year, she was absolutely delighted.

Sue and Hector have visited since January this year, and Mrs D loves seeing Hector and Sue every week, and Hector, of course, now has his own spot on her couch. Mrs D’s carer told us: “Their visits are the highlight of Mrs D’s week. She just loves Sue, and Hector is the apple of her eye.”

Sue and Hector also took Mrs D out for lunch on her birthday recently, and when they got home, she blew out the candles on the cake they’d brought whilst Hector joined in with Happy Birthday. Happy times with special friends. That’s what it’s all about!
