Newcastle
Mrs D, 89, is widowed and lives alone in sheltered accommodation in Newcastle. She’s had Spaniels all her life, but hasn’t been able to have a dog in quite a while now, and she really misses them. Mrs D is housebound and would love to have the company of Wag friends, two-legged and four-legged.
Mr B, 91, is a widower who lives alone near Newcastle. He has great support from his family, but he finds himself increasingly isolated now that he can no longer drive. He always had Collies and he really enjoys reminiscing about all the dogs he’s had. He would love to have regular visits to spend time with a dog again and with a two-legged friend for a regular chat.
Mrs C, 78, is widowed and lives alone in Newcastle. Mrs C has recently been discharged from hospital following a fall and is now home after a period of respite. Having always had Cocker Spaniels, she really misses having a special furry friend and often sits in her front garden with dog treats for the dogs that walk past. Regular visits from a special Wag Team and a relationship with a dog again would make a world of difference.
Mrs H, 85, is widowed and lives alone in sheltered accommodation in Newcastle. Having always had Labradors in her life, she really misses having the company of a special dog and would absolutely love regular visits. Mrs H has a supportive family but finds herself spending more time alone than she’d like, so friends visiting regularly for a chat over a cuppa and the chance to have a dog in her life again would be just what the Doctor ordered.
County Durham
Newton Aycliffe
Mrs B, 92, is widowed and lives in her own home in Newton Aycliffe. Her family visit as often as they can, but she finds herself feeling increasingly isolated as she’s not able to get out much anymore. She hasn’t had a dog of her own for a while; she lost her last Poodle over 10 years ago. She absolutely loves seeing her family’s dogs, but they can only visit a couple of times a year, so having regular visits from her own Wag furry friend and a catch-up over a cuppa will make such a difference.
Teesside
Hartlepool
Mrs T is 88, widowed and lives alone, and she also lost her much-loved dog around 3 years ago, so she’s really sad and missing her loved ones. Her children visit as often as they can, but she’s still on her own more than she would like, and she’s started feeling quite lonely. It would really help her to have a lovely little dog to hug again, a Wag friend for some company, and a regular chat.
Stockton
Mrs H is widowed and now lives alone in Stockton. She always had dogs in her life, including an English Sheepdog, a Labrador and a German Shepherd, but after developing some health problems, she can’t have a dog of her own any more, and she spends more time on her own than she’d like. So regular contact with Wag friends and a lovely dog in her life again will make such a difference.

Near Morpeth
Mrs M, 82, is widowed and lives alone in Morpeth. Mrs M had to rehome her beloved Bichon Frise after a stay in hospital, and although she can’t have a dog of her own anymore, she desperately misses having one. She’s really hoping that this summer she’ll have her own Wag Team with a small dog to sit in the garden with again. Would your little cuddle monster be a perfect new friend for Mrs M?
Near Alnwick
Mrs L is 78 and now lives alone in a flat in an Assisted Living complex. She loves dogs and, really sadly, had to rehome her beloved Jack Russell recently after having a fall while walking her. So so sad! After her fall, she is feeling really isolated and lonely, and she’s unable to get out much or at all. She really only sees carers and medical staff now, so having a lovely new friend for a chat and a cuppa, and their lovely dog, will be just what the doctor ordered!
Near Rothbury
Mrs M was widowed over five years ago, and she sadly lost her dog around the same time, too. She’s always had dogs – Collies, Labradors and Dalmatians – but it’s no longer possible to have one of her own, and of course she misses them terribly. We can all imagine what that must feel like, and you can help. With just an hour or two most weeks, for a chat, a cuppa, and a cuddle with your special dog, you can make a world of difference to her life and make a new friend at the same time.
