Claire Riley

Trustee Director

Claire, recently appointed an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours is Chief of Corporate Services for the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) and also regional lead for women’s health, and research and innovation.

Claire has led multi award-winning teams across the NHS. Before joining the ICB, Claire was previously the executive director of communications and corporate affairs at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for 12 years. Prior to this, she was director of communications for the North East Strategic Health Authority and has also worked in a number of private sector organisations, including Northumbria Water.

Claire is a qualified marketer and has a postgraduate diploma in Marketing and a BA (Hons) in business management and organisations, with extensive experience in business, marketing and communications across public and private sectors. She is also a qualified and experienced lecturer.

Claire is Chair of Trustees for Seven Stories, The National Centre for Children’s Books in Newcastle upon Tyne and a Trustee of the National Healthcare Volunteering Charity, Helpforce.

As a Director of Northumbria Healthcare Trust, Claire saw first hand the difference Wag befrienders make to older people isolated in their own homes, as well as the powerful healing impact of a lovely dog for a dog lover in hospital.

Claire is a huge dog lover and devoted ‘mum’ to Blu!
