Loneliness and social isolation are big issues in the North East. 17.3% of our population are over 65 and many live alone. Over 51,000 pensioners in our region describe themselves as lonely, with the tv as their main source of company. Many of them are dog lovers, at 36%, the North East has the highest proportion of dog owning households in the UK.
By becoming a Friend of Wag, you will be funding professionally assessed Visiting Wag Teams in our region and enabling many more life changing friendships in people’s own homes, in care or in hospitals.

£5 a month
equips one of our new Friendship Dogs with his or her prestigious red Wag bandana each month.
£10 a month
equips one of our new Wag Teams with their starter pack; ID, tag and Wag bandana each month.
£20 a month
equips one new Wag Team every month with their Wag starter pack and their first DBS assessment.
Choose a different amount
For instance, £39 a month recruits and supports a Visiting Wag Team for a whole year making an average of 27 visits and the world of difference to the life of an elderly dog lover.
