Visiting Wag Team, Sharon and Millie visit Winnie in Newcastle

Since January 2020, Sharon and Friendship Dog Millie have been visiting Winnie in Newcastle.

Winnie lost her husband and whilst she lives with her son, he has to work and so she finds herself quite isolated during the day.

Winnie and her husband always had dogs but were unable to have another dog when their last one passed away as she was caring for her husband at home.

Understandably she found it very difficult when he had to go into a Care Home and she became very depressed. She was desperate to have a dog again but it just wasn’t possible because of her own health reasons.

Terri Craven from Campus for Ageing and Vitality in Newcastle referred Winnie to Wag & Company. Everyone who refers someone to us, also attends their first visit and Terri was there and told us: “It was love at first sight, Millie sat on Winnie’s knee and everyone got on fantastically.  I knew how much Winnie adored dogs and I knew she’d love it but I didn’t realise the impact it would have until I saw the immediate connection; really lovely”.

So sorry that Covid-19 has got in the way but we hope to be back visiting very soon Millie and Winnie!
