Visiting Wag Team Brooke and Rocky visit Mrs Vera S near Sunderland

Mrs Vera S has always had dogs. She’s had all breeds of dog: a Chihuahua, a Dachshund and a Boxer, to name just a few. Vera is a widow and lives alone, and due to her sight problems, it’s no longer possible to have a dog of her own. She said she greatly misses their company.

We matched lovely Friendship Dog Rocky and ‘Mum’ Brooke to Vera. By complete coincidence, it turned out that they already knew each other by sight. During lockdown, when so many people were isolated in their homes, Vera used to stand in her window watching the world go by, and Brooke and her family often used to walk past with little Rocky and wave! Brooke was delighted when she and Rocky were matched to actually visit Vera inside her home.

The first visit went brilliantly. Rocky loved sitting on Vera’s knee, and she said she’d love it if he slept there permanently! Rocky is always thoroughly spoiled with treats and cuddles and is the centre of attention.

They’ve become the best of friends, and Vera absolutely adores Rocky. Brooke told us that Vera always lights up when she sees them.
Vera’s daughter, Susan, told us: “Mam loves her visits, and they do her the world of good. Brooke and Rocky have such a positive effect on Mam; I can’t thank Brooke enough for all she does.”

Another Wag match made in heaven!
